What does a Bollywood-Inspired Wedding look like? Well, Megna & Varun’s wedding was truly a grand spectacle where two very energetic and big-hearted Hindu Punjabi families came together. If you want us to define a big fat Indian wedding, this was one of those fun grand Hindu Toronto weddings. The whole vision by our couple was to do something unique for their Indian wedding. Throughout this blog, we will tell you 9 things that were unique at this Grand Indian wedding.
Megna is one bubbly character and you will see that through in her personality. Varun is quiet, organized and composed. We love their chemistry and you can see their love for Bollywood movies and much more in their Bollywood-Inspired Indian wedding.
Bollywood-Inspired Wedding at Grand Empire
Grand Empire Banquet is known for their architecture. This venue, in the heart of Brampton, Toronto, has a very royal Indian feel. It was the perfect location for this Bollywood-Inspired wedding.
Finding a castle look-a-like filled with giant chandeliers and at the same time having an Indian inspired palatial look is a rare find in Toronto. We love working at this beautiful venue for its aesthetic appeal but also for their great service. Grand Empire is known for the following things: good service, hotel nearby with easy access to hall, central location and a dedicated staff. News is that Grand Empire is renovating. So, 2020 brides stay tuned for more grand experiences in Brampton, Toronto.
“ My Indian wedding has to be different and unique!”
Megna and Varun wanted something different. They wanted their wedding to have something which people had never experienced before. For creating something unique for your wedding, couples have to trust their vendors and be ready for unconventional and bold ideas. This was very indicative of our couple, they were all about trying new things.
First Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – Studio Space for Getting Ready Photos
Megna’s family home was full of guests and we wanted to give Megna very dramatic images for her Bollywood-Inspired wedding. Due to the restriction of space, it was not possible at the bride’s house. Three days before the wedding, we pitched the idea to go to a studio on the morning of the wedding. Megna was all on board, although there were some challenges. Getting to the studio in the morning which opened at 6 am to arranging makeup artists to start earlier and much more. This is what happens when you are a fun, easy going and adventurous bride. Everyone was on board to create magic for Megna. This Indian-Moroccan studio space was perfect for this Bollywood bridal experience.
A Sabyasachi Bride for an Unique Indian Bridal Look
Our beautiful bride was dressed in a Sabyasachi’s signature green lehenga with touches of peaches and golds. Sabyasachi Mukherji, who has dressed celebrities like Priyanka Chopra to Kim Kardashian, is probably one of the most demanded designers for Indian wedding wear. He is known for their two dupattas looks which gives a truly royal Bengali signature bridal wear feel.
Every single thread used for embroidery was perfect in this signature Sabyasachi lehenga. A very different look all together than traditional reds was perfect for Megna.
Angrakha Sherwani for an Unique Indian Groom Look
Our groom on the other end was wearing an angrakha style sherwani with touches of peach to compliment his bride Megna.
Unique Bollywood Indian Wedding Hindu Ceremony Begins
Diya Decor, one of the most esteemed Indian wedding decorators in Toronto, created a unique oval mandap. A very royal setup full of mirrors, lit up solely with candles, giant trees and gold candelabras made for a very Indian ancient palatial feel.
Second Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – Bollywood Films
We have never been to an Indian wedding herein Canada where it felt like you were at a movie theater. Our couple recreated scenes from famous Indian Bollywood films and printed movies posters with them as the movie characters and with their names.
Third Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – A Bollywood Hindi Choir
Megna and Varun wanted their ceremony to be divine. Usually, in an Indian wedding ceremony, the Pandit Ji is chanting in Sanskrit and only a few will explain everything in English. Megna and Varun wanted their guests to understand what was happening so they hired an emcee from New York to explain the prayers in English. A special choir which plays at a local temple was also brought in to play Indian instruments and sing religious and Bollywood romantic classics while the ceremony was going on.
Fourth Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – Bride’s Entrance
Indian brides usually walk down the aisle with their family and eyes down, known to be shy. Megna, our Bollywood bride, wanted an upbeat vibe. She came down by herself dancing on a hip-hop number. Everyone expected the opposite. This couple just has something unique. They do things differently when it’s least expected.
Our groom welcomed the bride by singing a song alongside the live singers. Ceremony was explained very gracefully by our expert emcee in English.
The families were so much fun to work with and we can wait to tell more about this wedding in the next section of this blog.
Yes, we love this couple but they are not the most organized people. This couple’s wedding was split between two weekends and due to unforeseen circumstances they didn’t have time to do their engagement shoot before their wedding. However, they did have something special and unique up their selves.
Fifth Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – 24 Hours in Cuba
Megna called us on Tuesday morning: “Hey, can we go to Cuba tomorrow for our engagement shoot?” We were like sure. She told us, see you at the airport at 6:30 pm, we are flying to Havana tonight. This was 3 days after their wedding ceremony and 3 days before their reception. You can see how these two could be part of a Bollywood movie.
Here are some images of these two Bollywood sweethearts in Havana, Cuba.
Unique Bollywood Indian Reception at Caledon Country Club
Background story short – This wedding was full of spicy bollywood-esque stories. Wedding was planned in October and Canada can get quite cold on October nights. Caledon Country Club is a new venue situated on a golf course. The glass building structure, which the reception was planned for, was not ready in time for this Bollywood-Inspired wedding reception.
Now, this Bollywood couple loves to take risks. So, now we are here at the reception in a clear tent in October. Remember they wanted this wedding to be a unique experience for guests.
Sixth Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired wedding – Golf Cart for Guests
Guests were brought to the venue on Bollywood-movie-poster-wrapped golf carts. Like, we said it was one unique wedding.
Caledon Country Club golf course’s clear tent was beautifully decorated with string lights and massive screens.
Seventh Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – A Flying Entrance
Varun has a commercial pilot license and what could be more fun than coming to your own grand Indian reception on a helicopter. Couple landed at the Caledon Country Club looking straight out of a magazine cover. It was one spectacular sight for guests and an honor to photograph.
Eighth Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – Who was the Emcee
Varun and Megna said they had never been to a wedding where couples have emced their own reception. Yes, this couple emced their own wedding reception from entrances, cake cutting, speeches and first dance. Could there have been a way to give this wedding reception a more personal touch than this?
Also, what would a Bollywood-Inspired wedding reception be without a surprise performance? Varun with his groomsmen surprised everyone with a dance performance. Caledon Country Club was ready to party! However, there was still something special from the bride and groom to come.
Ninth Thing Unique about this Bollywood-Inspired Wedding – A Celebrity Performance
Dance floor was fully packed and Dj Prodigy was killing it with beats of latest Bollywood and Punjabi numbers. All of a sudden music stopped and Garry Sandhu was on the stage. Singer, known for many top charting Punjabi tracks, was on the stage with the couple of the hour. The energy was on a different level and every single person at the Caledon Country Club was on the dance floor with Garry Sandhu.
It was a bit chilly at Caledon Country Club, but this Bollywood couple have the warmest hearts. They greeted every single guest with so much love.
Trust your vendors – Indian weddings can be crazy with multiple day events and large guestlists. Megna and Varun fully trusted us to bring their vision to reality. This made a huge difference to make this wedding unique and represent the true essence of Megna & Varun.
