Why you should have an engagement photo shoot
Jessi & Dupinder is our special couple of the month, we drove to the outskirts of Montreal for their officially engaged session. Rustic rail engines from the 60’s with flavors of history added more romance to the scene. Jessi was dressed in a classic polka dots dress, where as the groom to be decided to suit up for this shoot and we even arranged a 40 year old authentic suitcase to match the essence of the old era.
There are three reasons why engagement shoots are important:
- Icebreaker with the photographer. Engagement shoots let the photographer get to know the couple, and let the couple get to know the photographer. This helps build an understanding of what the couple wants which is crucial to capturing their wedding day!
- Creative shots. Time and resources are available to allow the photographer and couple of collaborate a creative photo shoot to capture the essence of the couple and their love. During the wedding, time is of the essence and often limited; the engagement shoot ensures that the creative element of the couple story is not lost.
- The engagement shoot gives the photographer a great sense and insight into the poses the couple is most comfortable in and the angles that the coupe most responds to. It is great practice for the day of the wedding, and good learning for the photographer to know what the couple wants to see.
Bonus: Engagement shoots are just awesome!
