Wedding day can be stressful so here is a brief bridal guide for getting ready on your big day. Make sure you invest in planning ahead as there is so much that goes into making a wedding ceremony a beautiful experience for everyone. For you as a bride, it can be overwhelming but don’t you worry !
Based on our past experiences, here are a few tips for getting ready on your big day!
Communication
Communication is the key. Make sure you work with professionals for your big day. Be it professional makeup artists, hair team or photographers. Communicate with your vendors about every little detail – be it scheduling a trial makeup session or the style of hair/ make up you want or even how long it is going to take . To begin with, makeup artist is the first vendor on your morning timeline and any delay in getting ready could delay your wedding day. So make sure it is all well planned and timed. Ask your makeup and hair artists as to how much time will they be requiring to get you all set. Don’t forget to add extra 30 mins buffer – just in case!
Light it up
Make sure the room is well lit, where you are planning to get ready. It is best to pick a room with the biggest windows for good natural lighting. Again communicate with your makeup artists, sometimes they bring their own portable lights, ring lights, etc to have good lighting.
Do not disturb
Trust your vendor and make sure you are the only one they will be working with on that day. If you have friends and family getting ready, it is advised to have a separate artist for them. You don’t want your makeup artist to be interrupted or distracted. Many times, when brides are getting ready at home, we see a lot of family members seeking help from their vendor to fix their dress or do some touch ups for makeup. Make sure you are your makeup artist’s priority for that day as it’s your big day.
Sometimes vendors offer services to get ready at their location – do check with them so as to avoid distractions. Shirley Wu, Lesonne bridal and some of the renowned artists will schedule you at their location which is well lit and you don’t have to worry about any distractions. Book your makeup and hair artist in advance so that you can book a preferred slot as makeup artist usually have multiple bookings and you will have to work around their schedule.
Time for Photos
Photographers usually require one to one and a half hours to capture those getting ready moments. Schedule time with your photographer accordingly as you don’t want your photographer to arrive, while you are far from getting ready. They usually start photographing when base makeup is done. It is different for every photographer so do consult with your vendor.
Buffer time
It is s always good to have some buffer for details. Pinning up the veil or dupatta can use any time you have on your schedule.
Beauty sleep
Make sure you get enough sleep before your big day. Sometimes makeup artist are scheduled to be at your house for 4a.m., so they can start getting everyone ready and after they finish with mom’s or bridesmaids they can then start with the bride around 6am. If that is the case, make sure you don’t wake up early. Also make it a point to eat before you start getting your makeup done. You want to avoid looking drained and not well rested so get enough sleep and food.
Tears
Wedding ceremonies are emotional so keep some touchup and makeup essentials handy, even if your makeup is waterproof.
Take a deep breath and plan it ahead.
